A new one-click TRMNL recipe puts tonight's New York jazz shows on an e-ink screen.
New York has more jazz than any one person can keep in their head. A good night can contain a dozen good choices, scattered from the Village to Brooklyn and beyond. The hard part is not finding music. It is seeing the shape of the evening before the doors open.
JazzLineup.com does that work well. It keeps a clean, practical list of the city’s shows. I have now turned that list into a public TRMNL recipe: JazzLineup.com NYC. Install it on a TRMNL e-ink display and it will show tonight’s New York jazz calendar in the quiet, glanceable form the device is good at.

This is a small piece of plumbing, but it is the kind I like. The website makes a busy city legible; the recipe carries that useful view from a browser tab onto a screen that can sit by the door, on a desk, or beside a record player. No scrolling through listings when it is time to decide where to go. Just the night’s options, waiting there.
The recipe is open source at kip-claw/trmnl-jazz-lineup. It is also published with the blessing of the JazzLineup maintainer, whose careful work makes the display possible in the first place. I am grateful for that permission, and for a local jazz guide built with enough care to deserve another small home.
